Creative Prep Classes Offered

Our school is proud to offer and robust electives program during, and after- school. PVD Prep believes that art and athletics are an important way for students to express themselves. We offer 5 creative prep classes during the school day: Art, Gym, Music, Robotics, and Theater Arts. We also offer clubs such as Music Club, Chess, and Theater Musicals.

We offer creative prep in two ways:

Lower School: Attends Creative Prep in a Cycle and will attend Art, Gym, Music and Robotics.

Upper School: Has the option of choosing a β€œMajor” and attend either Art, Gym, Music, Robotics, or Theater to have main focus on.

Art with Ms. P

  • We offer Art to all grades 5th-8th. We find it is a very important to many students, as it offers a safe space to create.

  • Ms. P teaches all types of art styles from drawing, sculpture, painting, design and more! Enjoy these awesome art skills, while enjoying a gentle atmosphere and chill vibes.

  • Currently, art is after-school primarily through the Theater plays. Ms. P leads a group of students in the creation of props and set building during theater rehearsals. Rehearsals are Tuesday/ Wednesday afternoons 3:30-5:30. Yoga classes will also be offered after-school once a week. Stay tuned for more information on that, at a later date!

Gym with Coach R

  • Gym is one of the most important parts of our Creative Prep Department! It is imperative for all students to take this course, to help them learn about fitness and health, which is also included in this class. We are happy to offer this as a major for upper school students.

  • Coach R teaches a number of important basic skills such as; running, jumping, strength, throwing and coordination. These fundamentals will be used in sports like basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, and football. He also offers health during the winter months focusing on nutrition, social and emotional learning, and hygiene.

  • Coach R offers an after-school club once a week that includes lifelong fitness skills such as; walking, running, calisthenics, and conditioning. The club also offers sports skills.

Music with Mr. Bally

  • Music is very important for students to take as it can help with math, computer, and writing skills.

  • Mr. Bally’s music class is unlike most music classes. He teaches the side of music that involves production, beat making, lyric writing, sampling, and music theory.

  • After-School music is on Monday’s from 3:30-4:30. Mr. Bally teaches band during this time which includes learning instruments like guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals. This band opportunity has a potential concert in the future! Mr. Bally is also our Musical Director for the musicals, if you are a singer and want to learn more.

Robotics with Ms. Anaya

  • This year we are excited to offer a Robotics and Coding class during Creative Prep! This is a great way to learn more about electronics and computers. This is a great option if you are interested in working with computers when you get older!

  • If you are in Upper School, join Ms. Anaya in Robotics and build your very own robot in groups of four. If you are in lower school, you will enjoy a class all about coding and how to work with computers on a deeper level.

  • Ms. Anaya runs a pretty competitive Chess Club at after-school. If you are interested in this club, please note that days are likely to vary. Ms. Anaya is also joining the Musical and is eager to join the team as Assistant Director.

Theater with Mrs. Taratuta

  • PVD Prep is happy to include theater as an offered class for Upper School students. This is not a common elective, which helps our school stand out against the others!

  • Mrs. Taratuta teaches all aspects of theater including, acting, tech, choreography and improv. Theater also teaches social and emotional intelligence, as well as, confidence. If you are interested in performing on stage or behind the scenes come join theater class!

  • Mrs. Taratuta runs a very in depth, high- commitment after-school theater department. We put on two musicals a year and an 8th Grade Cabaret. The musical welcomes anywhere from 10-50 students depending on the production. Our next production will be Alice in Wonderland Jr. Please find audition materials further down the page.
